Judy Burnham awarded the 2004-2005 Leadership Fellows Program

Judy Burnham, assistant director at Charles M. Baugh Biomedical Library at the University of South Alabama, was awarded the 2004-2005 Leadership Fellows Program sponsored by the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries (AAHSL) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM).

The program is designed to prepare promising leaders for director positions in academic health center libraries. Fellows are given the opportunity to further develop their knowledge and skills in various learning settings.Fellows

are paired with mentors who are academic health center library directors to give career guidance and support.

Burnham has been with the USA since 1989. She earned her bachelor’s of science degree in adult interdisciplinary studies at USA in 1988. She earned a master’s degree in library sciences from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1989.

In addition to this honor, Burnham serves as chair of the Medical Library Association Scholarship Jury and chair of the Southern Chapter of the Medical Library Association Communications Committee as well as a research mentor for the Southern Chapter. In 2002, Burnham won the Estelle Brodman Award for Academic Medical Librarian of the Year from the Medical Library Association.
