Lunch and Learn Series: “Understanding Infertility”

The University of South Alabama Physicians Group Lunch ‘N’ Learn lecture series will feature a community lecture on “Understanding Infertility” on Aug. 16, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. at the USA Knollwood Pavilion Conference Center. The presentation, designed to give detailed information of causes of infertility and the latest treatment options, will be presented by Ruth Kennedy, CRNP.

Kennedy, a certified registered nurse practitioner, has been with USA Physicians Group since 2000. With more than 30 years of professional experience, Kennedy’s practice focuses on women’s health with a strong emphasis on fertility. She serves as the coordinator for USA’s in vitro fertilization program, and recently founded a local patient support group for couples experiencing infertility.

Infertility is defined as the inability to become pregnant after trying for one year. In the United States, one out of seven couples has difficulty conceiving. Factors that impact fertility include: age, tubal disease, ovulation disorders, endometriosis, and male factor infertility. During her lecture Kennedy will discuss medical options and treatments available in treating infertility.

Couples are encouraged to attend. The lecture and lunch is provided free of charge. Reservations are required. For more information regarding the lecture or to make reservations, please call 460-6770 or email bpoppoff@usouthal.edu.

The USA Physicians Group is the clinical practice group of faculty at the USA College of Medicine. Here, specialists provide a high level of care by blending the most up-to-date treatments found in academic medicine with a high level of customer service present in private practice.
