MOBILE – The 7th Annual Children's Miracle Network Radiothon supporting University of South Alabama Children's & Women's Hospital raised a record $126,320.65 in pledges during the Nov. 21-23 broadcast on Lite Mix 99.9 FM. The pledges represent an amazing 54 percent increase over last year’s pledge total.
"USA Children's & Women's Hospital is having a remarkable impact on the Gulf Coast," Dr. Joseph Busta, vice president for development and alumni relations at the University of South Alabama, said. "So many lives have been touched that our community has responded with record levels of support, and we want to say thank you to everyone."
“The support we received at this year’s Radiothon was especially rewarding because we knew many people had already donated support to Hurricane Katrina victims,” said Dr. Becky DeVillier, USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital administrator. “All of us want to say thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.”

During the Radiothon, children, families, doctors, staff and volunteers shared compelling testimonials about their experiences at USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital as they were interviewed by Lite Mix personalities.

Listeners had the opportunity to call in pledges to help purchase medical equipment, support research, and provide programs and services for children treated at USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital.
USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital is among less than ten freestanding hospitals nationwide dedicated specifically to the health care needs of children and women. The hospital is uniquely qualified and equipped to provide the area's highest level of care, therapeutic and surgical services for children and women, be it life-threatening illness, traumatic injury, premature birth or high-risk obstetrical and gynecological needs.
