FOUR USAMC EMPLOYEES NAMED “HEALTH CARE HEROES”

USA Medical Center “Health Care Heroes” Dawn Hind, Paulette Wilson, Schettler Watts and Wilbanks Johnson Jr., flank USAMC Administrator Beth Anderson.

MOBILE – Four USA Medical Center employees have been recognized by the Alabama Hospital Association as “Health Care Heroes” for their contributions to health care excellence.

Dawn Hind, PT, is a physical therapist at the USA Burn and Wound Center at USAMC. Wilbanks Johnson Jr. is the Medical Center’s supply supervisor. Schettler Watts, RN, RD, CCTC is transplant coordinator and dietitian in the USA Regional Transplant Center at USAMC and Paulette Wilson, RN, MPH is the Medical Center’s employee health nurse.

Each was lauded by USA Medical Center Administrator Beth Anderson, who pointed out the positive attitudes and “going the extra mile” dedication of the honored employees.

Hind was commended for “always helping in all ways,” and in gaining the trust of her patients. Johnson was especially saluted for maintaining the hospital’s vehicles during hurricanes. Watts was recognized for developing the transplant center’s living donor program and volunteering at health fairs, and Wilson was credited for starting the Medical Center’s highly successful “Walk South” employee exercise program.

The four were among ten southwest Alabama hospital workers recognized at the Jan. 13 reception hosted by the Southwest Alabama Regional Hospital Council of the Alabama Hospital Association. It was one of seven regional awards presentations held as part of the association's third annual statewide “Health Care Heroes” contest, an effort to honor the dedication of health care workers in the state and to highlight health careers.

Hind, Johnson, Watts, Wilson and the other six regional winners will now be considered for the statewide contest, which will be held in February and will recognize one winner from each region.

The Alabama Hospital Association, based in Montgomery, is a statewide trade organization that represents more than 100 hospitals and numerous other health care providers by offering membership services designed to enhance the provision of health care in Alabama.
