USA College of Medicine to Host Conference on Obstetrics and Gynecology


The University of South Alabama Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the USA College of Medicine office of continuing education will host the 15th annual Continuing Education Conference in Obstetrics and Gynecology April 6-7 at the Mobile Convention Center.
 
The conference will focus on current topics of clinical relevance impacting the field of obstetrics and gynecology and Women’s health. Some topics of discussion will include gynecological cancers, prevention of osteoporosis, screening reproductive women for heart disease and lipid disorders, 3-D and 4-D ultrasounds, stem cell therapy, perinatal infections and prevention of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). The conference will also emphasize how to best incorporate new medical findings into the practice of obstetrics and gynecology.
 
Speakers will include faculty from USA, as well as the United States Department of Homeland Security, Alabama Office of Primary Care and Rural Health Development, the National Fetal Alcohol Task Force, and the Alabama Women Infant and Children (WIC) program.
 
This conference will also serve as a R.N. license renewal for 2006. The Alabama Board of Nursing requires all nurses to bring their licenses to the conference to receive continuing education credit.
 
This conference is sponsored in part by a community grant from the March of Dimes in an effort to disseminate the most current information in the prevention of birth defects and premature babies.
