The University of South Alabama Department of Family Medicine Residency Program was recently honored by the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation (AAFP/F) for their efforts to increase immunization rates among children in our region. |
| Immunization rates in USA’s program improved 30 percent over the previous year – the highest rate of improvement among the 400 family medicine residency programs in the United States. |
“Prevention is key to improving the health of our patients, and vaccines are one of the most effective methods to prevent and control many serious diseases that threaten children,” said Dr. Ehab Molokhia, director of the USA Family Medicine residency program. |
In recognition of their achievement, the USA Family Medicine residency program was awarded one of two of the AAFP/F Wyeth Immunization Awards given each year recognizing institutions for identifying and developing creative solutions to overcoming the barriers to childhood immunizations. |
