Children's Miracle Network Celebration Announces Nearly $1 Million for USA Children's & Women's Hospital

MOBILE – A record of nearly $1 million in support was announced at the close of the 23rd Children's Miracle Network Celebration broadcast June 1 at USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital and FOX 10.  The total of $977,962 in pledges and gifts for the hospital’s pediatric services is a 32 percent increase in support from last year and a 58 percent increase from two years ago.

“Thanks largely to the support of our community, we are experiencing phenomenal growth,” Dr. Becky DeVillier, USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital administrator, said.  “The University’s Board of Trustees recently approved expansion plans, which is tremendously exciting news.  This recognition of nearly $1 million in pledges and gifts from our supporters is equally inspiring.”

The event was broadcast live on FOX 10 and featured FOX 10 news anchors, hospital employees, “miracle children” stories, and videos of the extensive pediatric care provided at USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital.

“While USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital provides the region’s best care for children, this care is made possible through the generosity of our supporters,” Dr. Joseph Busta, USA vice president for development and alumni relations, said. “We want to say thank you to everyone.”

USA Children's & Women's Hospital is among less than ten freestanding hospitals in the United States dedicated specifically to the health care needs of children and women. The hospital's unique pediatric services include the Hollis J. Wiseman Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, neonatal and pediatric transport services, the Child Life program, and the USS Hope cancer and sickle cell treatment center.
