| The University of South Alabama’s SPF (Skin Protection Force) 90 Team will be onsite at the 76th Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo in Dauphin Island, Ala., on July 19-20, 2008. The SPF 90 Team will provide free skin cancer screenings both days from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. |
| The SPF 90 Team is a group of doctors and healthcare providers from the Mitchell Cancer Institute and the USA Department of Family Medicine. This team goes to local beaches and community events providing free full body skin cancer screenings and cancer prevention information. |

| “Skin cancer is a preventable disease if detected early,” explained Dr. Adam Riker, chief of surgical oncology at the Mitchell Cancer Institute. “Our program’s name - SPF 90 - underscores the important message that protecting your skin from ultraviolet rays is the best way to prevent skin cancer and the fact that 90 percent of skin cancer is curable with early detection.” |
