Dr. Riddick Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

 
Dr. LeRoy Riddick, adjunct professor of forensic pathology at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, was recently presented with the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) Outstanding Service Award in recognition of his outstanding service to NAME and his significant contributions to the advancement of medicolegal investigation of deaths in the United States.
“It is an honor to receive such an award for my professional work as a medical examiner,” said Riddick, who retired from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences (ADFS) in 2006 and continues to teach part time at the USA College of Medicine.
Prior to his retirement, Riddick led the ADFS laboratory in Mobile. In 2006, he was awarded the American Academy of Forensic Sciences’ prestigious Milton Helpern Award, recognizing his outstanding career in the profession.
Riddick is a native of Memphis, Tenn., and attended Princeton University, followed by graduate school and a stint in the U.S. Army before enrolling in medical school at the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry. He conducted his residency at Cornell University in Manhattan, N.Y.
NAME was founded in 1966 and is the national professional organization of physician medical examiners, medical death investigators and death investigation system administrators who perform the official duties of the medicolegal investigation of deaths of public interest in the United States.
