Dr. Jorge E. Alonso was recently appointed as professor of orthopaedic surgery at the USA College of Medicine.
Alonso has advanced training in orthopaedic trauma and his areas of expertise include fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum in addition to problems of the sacro-illiac joint and post traumatic reconstruction of the extremities including mal-unions and non-unions.
Prior to joining USA, Alonso was on faculty at the University of Alabama in their medical and engineering schools for the past 20 years and has been selected as one of the "Best Doctors in America” in each of the past 15 years. |

Alonso has conducted extensive research on car accidents and the benefits of seat belts and air bags. This research was completed through a grant from Mercedes Benz and the Department of Transportation (NTHSA). |

Alonso graduated from Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, Ga., and earned his medical degree from the University of Salamanca in Spain. He completed his residency at the University of Mississippi and completed a pediatric orthopaedic fellowship at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla., followed by an orthopaedic trauma fellowship in Basal, Switzerland. |

Alonso is a member of the American Medical Society, Pan American Trauma Society, Southern Medical Association, Southern Orthopaedic Association, Orthopaedic Trauma Association and a corresponding member for the Latin American Society of Orthopaedic and Traumatology. |
