Bill White with the Port City Pacers presented a $10,000 check to Dr. Loran Clement, chair of pediatrics at the University of South Alabama, to support an asthma outreach program called the BreathMobile. The BreathMobile is a custom-built mobile clinic equipped with state-of-the-art technology used by asthma educators, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and pediatric specialists to help diagnose and treat asthma. The team travels to different schools in the Mobile area to identify and treat children with asthma, and to educate them about the disease process and the medications used to treat it.

Asthma is the most common reason for admission to the hospital for children. The BreathMobile program improves the lives of children impacted by asthma by giving them the tools needed - education, feedback and understanding - to better manage their condition.
