According to Dr. Alonso, many factors affect hip health. “A person’s age, gender, family history, nutrition and lifestyle all play a role,” he said. .

|
As the United States population ages, experts predict a dramatic increase in hip fractures. These injuries usually require long periods of rehabilitation and can seriously hinder the patient’s ability to live independently. Part of the lecture will focus on injury prevention and steps people can take to avoid fractures. |

Dr. Alonso recently joined the USA College of Medicine faculty. Prior to joining USA, Alonso was on faculty at the University of Alabama in their medical and engineering schools for the past 20 years. He has been selected as one of the "Best Doctors in America” in each of the past 15 years. |
