Nearly 500 area cyclists participated this summer in RIDEYELLOW, a fund-raising bicycle ride in Baldwin County benefiting the USS Hope pediatric oncology treatment center at USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital. Recently, the organization presented a check to the hospital for $25,000 to support the USS Hope, as well as a commitment to support the USS Hope in next year’s RIDEYELLOW event. The cyclists also donated $15,000 to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

The USS Hope is a cheerful submarine-themed room designed for children undergoing treatment for cancer, sickle cell disease and other transfusion therapies. As a member of the Children’s Oncology Group, the world’s largest childhood cancer research organization, USA’s pediatric oncologists have access to the latest and most effective cancer treatment protocols for children.
