A fundamental goal of the EXPORT Research Core is to foster the integration of University of South Alabama (USA) faculty interested in addressing health disparities into a cohesive group with a defined identity: the Health Disparities Research Group (HDRG).
HDRG is envisioned as a multidisciplinary research group that will develop, implement and evaluate novel approaches and interventions to address the multi-factorial determinants of health disparities in our area and nationwide, in time situating the USA EXPORT Center as a leader in the promotion of health equality.
Proposed activities for the HDRG are:
Monthly meeting to discuss teaching, research, and service initiative to address health disparities.
Creating avenues for communication and networking:
HDRG List serve
HDRG chat group
Interest groups within HDRG
Pairings of USA faculty with faculty at the University of Pittsburgh and other Universities involved in similar areas of research, in order to create an avenue for the discussion of ideas, concepts, and research methodology, as well as to create conditions for the development of joint research projects.
