"Noe‘s Strong and Weak Enactivism"

In recent work, Alva Noe¨ has developed two versions of enactivism. According to Strong Enactivism, perception requires the exercise of sensorimotor knowledge in overt behavior. According to Weak Enactivism, perception requires the possession of sensorimotor knowledge. Although Strong Enactivism has been challenged by the discovery of perception during complete paralysis by neuromuscular blockade, the present paper challenges Weak Enactivism on the grounds that it makes false predictions regarding the perception of illusions and metamers.
