On the campus of Howard University, January 13, 1913, 22 young women came together and founded Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. These young, intellectual, scholarly women used their collective strength to promote academic excellence and service to the community. DST is a non-profit organization with 870 chapters located in the United States, Virgin Islands, Japan, etc.

Iota Nu City-Wide Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. was chartered on April 23, 1972 by:

Carolyn Black Brenda Rhodes
Faye Bracy Marceletta Shaw
Brenda Ellis Belinda Singleton

The ten young ladies represented the University of South Alabama, Spring Hill College,
and the University of Mobile.
