Energy Conservation

Conserving energy is a major part of USA's Sustainability Program. Presently, the University reduces its energy use through the following:

Conserving electricity through minimizing use of its central heating and cooling plants.
Decreasing energy use by replacing incandescent lighting with LED and fluorescent lights both inside buildings and outside.
Replacing a number of gasoline-powered University vehicles for Campus Police and the Safety Department with electric golf carts.
Implementing an awareness campaign to encourage energy conservation, such as turning off lights and reducing heating and cooling usage.

A number of gasoline powered vehicles on campus have been replaced by more environmentally-friendly electric powered vehicles.

Students, faculty and staff are reminded of the importance of everyone’s role in conservation through an awareness campaign.
