USA Students
It's a new campus shuttle system designed with you in mind!
The University of South Alabama's campus transportation system, JagTran, was created to provide easy, safe and efficient transportation for USA students, employees and visitors. JagTran vehicles run continuously throughout the day, starting at 7:10 a.m. on the main campus (see map). No tickets, money or reservations are needed. Students park their cars in color coded lots, which they choose, and then walk or ride JagTran.

  • Total riders since start-up - 1,000,000+ riders
  • No injuries or at-fault collisions involving JagTran vehicles
  • 25% reduction in traffic accidents in parking lots
  • 50% reduction in pedestrians/vehicle accidents
  • 17% reduction in motorist assist calls (keys, dead batteries, etc.)

Here's what you need to know:
First, review your class schedule and pick a parking lot that's most convenient to your classes and activities for the entire academic year.

All on-campus resident students, except Gamma residents, will obtain a housing hangtag and park near their dorms. Grove residents will obtain a Grove parking permit.

Gamma residents: Will obtain an orange (Central Zone) hangtag.

If you do not live on campus, you must choose a zone in which to park and obtain a hangtag for that zone which will be valid for the entire academic year under the JagTran system.

Zoned parking is in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., Monday - Friday. On the main campus, after 1:45 p.m., you are free to park in any Student parking space.

Parking guidelines won't change for students with disabilities. All JagTran vehicles will be fully accessible to all students, faculty and staff with disabilities.

We have listened to your suggestions. Here are some changes to help you:
  • on-campus resident students can park in the University Commons parking lot at any time, using their housing hangtag.
  • All students can park in the Mitchell Center, Technology & Research Park Building III and Residence Hall lots at all times.
  • JagTran service starts at 7:10 a.m.
