askf.gif (1476 bytes)     The annual Karate Training Camp has been offered by the University of South for the past 32 years.  It is designed for any style karate student, and is open to all ranks.  The camp focuses on basic techniques, kata and sparring utilizing Shotokan style of karate.

Masters Mikami and Takashina have instructed the karate camp each year.  Mr. Mikami is the chief instructor for the All South Karate Federation and holds 8th Degree black belt form the Japan Karate Association.  He is twice national champion of Japan.

Mr. Takashina, currently 8th Degree black belt, is the chief instructor for the South Atlantic Karate Association and a member of the JKA/WF.

Both of our instructors have dedicated their lives and efforts to the internationalization of traditional Shotokan Karate-do.  Both came from the university system of modern Japanese Karate developed by the founder of modern karate, Gichen Funakoshi.  The university tradition has been a dynamic base in the promotion of Shotokan Karate throughout the world. The USA Karate program originated over 40 years ago.
