Kappa Delta Pi was founded March 8, 1911, at the University of Illinois.
The Omicron Zeta Chapter was installed at the University of South Alabama
on December 2, 1980.
The Society promotes education as a vital force that
encourages universal welfare, individual progress, and serves as the
cornerstone of democracy and the foundation for personal fulfillment.
In addition, the following Ideals are presented:

Fidelity to Humanity
- faith in the potential of human beings and in the improvment
of the human condition through education

- as an educator, one will be faithful to the cause of free inquiry
and will strive to eliminate prejudice and superstition by withholding
judgment until accurate and adequate evidence is obtained
