University of South Alabama - Library Art Galleries
Policies

All watercolors and photographs hung in the galleries are expected to be matted and framed by the artist.

Photographs, small watercolors, or similar pieces exhibited in the display cases do not need to be framed, but do need to be suitable for display in such a way that they do not curl or fall.

Digital images or a portfolio or works should be submitted for review.

Shows may need to be scheduled as much as two years in advance.

Shows are generally exhibited for two months at a time, so artists should plan on keeping each work in the gallery for the entire duration of the show. If a work is sold or needed elsewhere, the artist is expected to replace the piece with a comparable work.

The University Library does not sell the works of artists. However, artists may place cost and contact information on each piece or in a brochure. It is up to the artist to make arrangements for the sale.

Opening receptions are not normally held for a number of reasons, including library policies regarding studying and research space where the galleries are located. When receptions are approved, it is the artists' responsibility to arrange for refreshments.
