Viewer Mail on Late Nite
On November 2, 1990, on David Letterman's
NBC show, he read a letter I had written.
At the time I was living in Norman, Oklahoma and teaching in the
math department of OU
(the University
of Oklahoma).
As it turned out, on the day the letter aired, I was away
at a conference and luckily had set my VCR to record the show.
I did happen to catch the show the night it aired. Needless to say, it was
quite a surprise. What was even more surprising was when I returned home from the conference, my answering machine was filled with messages from complete strangers who had called to laugh on my machine.
