The Mitchell Cancer Institute Medical Oncology/Hematology team provides primary cancer treatment, continuous follow-up, consultations, and second opinions for cancer management. Our medical oncologists and hematologists serve as leaders of the interdisciplinary cancer treatment team, working closely with other physician cancer specialists, including surgical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, and radiation oncologists.

The physicians and staff at the Mitchell Cancer Institute are dedicated to providing leading-edge medical care while treating patients and their families with understanding and compassion. Our clinical area includes two multidisciplinary exam clusters within a calming and open atmosphere. Our infusion suite features 20 infusion stations in an open environment as well as two private rooms. Each infusion station features a computer with wireless internet service and TV/Cable service designed to provide “distraction therapy” for patients receiving chemotherapy.

We also have a satellite office in Fairhope, Alabama, within the medical office building adjacent to Thomas Hospital. Medical Oncology/Hematology patients can be seen in our Fairhope location and chemotherapy services are provided in the Fairhope location.

The medical oncology/hematology staff can be contacted at 251-665-8000.

Information for New Patients

Our clinical staff is available to answer any questions regarding your first visit. You should try to obtain your records and x-ray films/reports if possible before your initial consultation. After your visit, we will schedule any further testing and evaluations necessary for your care. Your referring physician will be kept informed regarding your progress and may continue to be involved in your care as well.

Office Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with office visits available by appointment. New patients are accepted through referral from another physician or by self referral. Our care is limited to cancer care. We do not provide routine general medical care. We can be contacted 24 hours a day to handle emergencies at (251)-665-8000. Drs. Butler, Cameron, Clarkson, Dumlao, Khong, Reed and Taylor admit patients at both Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, USA Medical Center and Thomas Hospital. We do not admit patients or perform surgery at any other hospitals in the Mobile area.
