J. Russell Hardin is a Professor of Accounting and Department Chair at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. He holds a B.S. and M.A. degrees in Business from Appalachian State University and a Ph.D. degree in Accounting from the University of Mississippi. He is also a CPA and teaches both undergraduate and graduate business courses. He has published several articles and books in accounting, taxation, international business, and marketing. His research interests include behavior in organizations, gender effects, taxation, and legal issues. |

Jeanne Sylvestre

|
Dr. Sylvestre was a member of the accounting department for over 30 years. She
tirelessly advised and supported Beta Alpha Psi for more than 25 years. She maintained
relationships with accounting professionals all over the United States and the world and
she had strong relationships with students. In addition, she was the first graduate of the
Mitchell College of Business to return to teach at USA at the full professor level.

Mark A. Segal is a Professor of Accounting in the Mitchell College of Business. He holds MBA and JD degrees from Tulane University and an MLT degree from Emory University. His primary area of teaching is taxation. He has twice been named Researcher of the Year in the Mitchell College of Business. |

Frank R. Urbancic is Professor of Accounting and the Ernest G. Cleverdon Professor of Business. He received a bachelor of business administration in accounting with honors from Cleveland State University and his doctorate in accounting from Kent State University. Dr. Urbancic joined USA in 1990 after previously serving as a member of the accounting faculties at the University of South Carolina, Youngstown State University, University of Louisiana Lafayette, and John Carroll University. He is also a CPA and a former Senior Auditor with KPMG International.
Dr. Urbancic is an author of more than 90 articles appearing in numerous academic and professional journals. Among his many publications are appearances in The Accounting Review, Journal of Accountancy, Research in Accounting Regulation, Accounting Enquiries, Accounting Educators’ Journal, Journal of Corporate Accounting and Finance, Advances in Financial Education, CPA Journal, Michigan CPA, Ohio CPA Journal, Government Accountants Journal, Healthcare Financial Management, Internal Auditing, Internal Auditor, Journal of Education for Business, and Journal of Applied Business Research.
A very dedicated teacher, Dr. Urbancic has received several awards for outstanding teaching throughout his academic career, including most recently in 2007 the Professor of the Year for the Mitchell College of Business.

Ko Hsu is an Associate Professor of Accounting in the Mitchell College of Business. He holds BA and MS degrees in Accounting from Illinois State University, a MS degree in Business Science from Iowa State University, and a PhD in Accounting from Memphis State University. His primary area of teaching is in accounting principles and accounting information systems. |

Tom Noland joined the University of South Alabama faculty in 2010 and primarily teaches auditing, advanced auditing and professional accounting. He holds professional certifications as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM). Dr. Noland has been awarded both the Lybrand Bronze Medal and a Certificate of Merit by the Institute of Management Accountants for his contributions to accounting research. Prior to teaching at South Alabama, Noland taught at Georgia Southern University where he was awarded the School of Accountancy’s Research and Service Awards and the College of Business Administration’s Brown & Williamson Award.
Dr. Noland has served as an Academic Fellow in the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) Office of Chief Accountant and has also worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Dr. Noland is a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the Army Reserve. LTC Noland is a distinguished military graduate of the University of Kentucky ROTC program where he was the recipient of the George C. Marshall Award. Dr. Noland’s Ph.D. is from the Patterson School of Accountancy at the University of Mississippi where he was awarded both university and dissertation fellowships. Dr. Noland earned his MSM (MBA) at the Georgia Institute of Technology where he was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma. |

Lynn A. Suberly is an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Mitchell College of
Business. She holds a BS degree in Mathematics from Florida State University, a MPA
(Masters of Professional Accounting) from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and a
PhD in Accounting from Florida State University. She is a Certified Management
Accountant and teaches primarily cost, governmental, and not-for-profit accounting.
Her research interests include areas of cost and governmental accounting as well as
bank accounting and finance. |

Mr. Foster has been active in private business for thirty years and is currently a partner in the public accounting firm, Allen, Allen and Foster, L.P.

After teaching part-time for several years, Ms. Madden joined the faculty full-time in the Fall of 2007 as an Instructor of Accounting. Ms. Madden earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Birmingham-Southern College and a Masters of Business Administration from Spring Hill College. She is a licensed CPA in the state of Alabama as well as a Certified Management Accountant. In addition to teaching Principles of Accounting, she has also taught Auditing at USA.
Ms. Madden began her career as an auditor with Price Waterhouse, Ltd. serving manufacturing and service clients throughout the Southeast as well as up-state New York. She went to work for one her clients as an internal auditor and remained in the internal audit field for over ten years. Upon returning to Mobile, Ms. Madden continues to provide various accounting and consulting services to small business and non-for-profit groups.
Outside of her teaching responsibilities, Ms. Madden is a member of the board of directors for both Mobile Opera, Inc. and Mobile Ballet, Inc. in addition to participating in various social and athletic organizations. |

Mr. Prescott is a Senior Instructor of Accounting who joined the Department's faculty in September 1994. He holds a Master of Accounting degree from the University of South Alabama and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Troy State University. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Alabama, and he is also a Certified Management Accountant and a Certified Financial Manager. In addition to teaching the principles of accounting and accounting for entrepreneurial businesses courses on a regular basis, he has also taught classes in cost accounting and advanced cost accounting.Mr. Prescott has been named the Mitchell College of Business Instructor of the Year on four occasions: 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2010.
Additionally, since 1998 Mr. Prescott has been the Lead Instructor for the Becker CPA Review program in Mobile. In that capacity, he teaches classes in financial accounting, auditing, business law, taxation, and business environment and concepts. He also regularly teaches continuing professional education seminars on a variety of accounting and financial analysis-related topics. For the last several years, he has served as a Lecturer with the Alabama Banking School, teaching classes in general accounting theory, financial statement analysis, advanced credit analysis, and commercial lending topics.
