The College of Nursing is pleased to announce the newly funded DNP for Culturally Competent Psychiatric Nursing track will admit at least 12 post-MSN students each year. The program will emphasize culturally competent evidenced-based nursing.
A full time and part time curriculum for the DNP for Culturally Competent Psychiatric Nursing Program is offered. A total of 37 post-master’s credits will be required for post psychiatric NPs and 56 for non psychiatric NP post masters. Graduates of the Psychiatric/Mental Health DNP will be prepared to provide and manage evidence-based clinical care of individuals, families, or populations in primary, acute or tertiary settings.
The curriculum is congruent with professional nursing standards: (AACN’s proposal for DNP programs) accreditation (CCNE), and regulations (Alabama Board of Nursing).
