Scandinavia - Finland Global Study in Human Sciences

 Finland

The Finnish educational system is among the best in the world, enjoying generous government financial backing and parental support. Teachers have a great deal of influence in their schools and Finnish society views the profession of teaching on par with that of medicine and law. Students start school at the age of seven, yet manage to score higher than students in any other industrialized nation in math, science, and reading on tests they take as 15-year-olds. Further, a full 65% of Finland’s youth continue on to college.

Now graduate students at the University of South Alabama have the opportunity to study in this outstanding educational environment through the Scandinavia-Finland Global Study in Human Sciences. Students may register for up to six credit hours of coursework through the program. Courses are one week each in duration and are offered during the period of May 14th through June 8th, 2007at the University of Jyväskylä in Jyväskylä, Finland.

Course subjects include counseling, educational leadership, and sports marketing and organization. Faculty and students participating in this program are assembled from countries around the world. For more information on the Scandinavia-Finland Global Study in Human Sciences, contact: Dr. Peggy Delmas in USA’s College of Education at 251-380-2889.
