Formula  1 for File Size
File Size = (pixel dimensions x bit depth) / 8

Formula 2 for File Size
File Size = (length in inches x width in inches x dpi2 x bit depth) / 8

Example: an image with pixel dimensions of 1600x1200 and an 24-bit color depth has a file size of 1600*1200*24 / 8 = 5,760,000 bytes.

Example: an 8 inch by 10 inch document  scanned at 100 dpi and a bit depth of 24 has a file size of 8*10*100*100*24 / 8 =   6,400,000 bytes.
