Procedure 

  1. Start FrontPage
    1. Look for FP Icon on desktop and double click
    2. Start, Programs, Microsoft FrontPage, double click
  2. Create an Empty Web
    1. File, New, Web; on the Web sites tab, select ‘One Page Web’
    2. IMPORTANT!  Don’t forget to assign web the name & location you want!

3.    Create Home Page

    1. Index.htm – many web hosts require the first page FILE name to be Index.htm
    2. The Page Title can be different from the Page File Name
    3. Select Page View
    4. Click on the Index.htm file to open the page
    5. File, Save AS, Set New Title, Ok, Save

4.    Select Theme

    1. FrontPage has a number of packaged themes built in
    2. You can also create your own from scratch or customize a FrontPage theme
    3. Format, Theme, Apply to All Pages, select theme design

      Check/uncheck Active Graphics and/or background

5.         Table, Insert, Table; select the size, number of columns, etc; OK

6.  Format the Table

a.      Click inside the table; Table, Properties, Table, (select options), Apply

                            i.      Set Width to 600 Pixels

                             ii.      Set Border to 1 Pixel (optional)

                             iii.      Set Padding to 5 pixels

                             iv.      Center Alignment

7.  Preview the web page

a.      File, Preview in Browser,

8.  Build Your Web

  1. Click inside the table to position the insertion point and type
  2. Select your text; Format, Font, select options, Apply, OK

9. Insert Pictures or Clipart

    1. Insert, Pictures, File or Clipart

10.  Format Graphics

  1. Select the Graphic, Use Graphic Tool Bar at bottom of screen

11.  Adding Pages

  1. Click New Page icon 

 


 

File, New, Page, OK; Remember to rename the page file

12.  Navigation using Hyperlinks

a.      Select the text or graphic

b.      Click on the Hyperlink icon on the tool bar

c.      Enter the URL of the page you want to link to

13. Publishing Your web

a.      Talk to your web host to get required information, e.g. ftp location/user name/passwords, etc

b.      File, Publish Web or  Get an FTP program
