ABCs OF KAYAKING
Come join Campus Recreation and Outdoor Adventures as we teach you ABCs of Kayaking on Saturday, June 2.
Class will meet at the USA swimming pool. We will teach you how to hold a paddle, how to enter and exit your “ride” and how to go, turn, and stop. Most importantly, we will have you practice a wet entry; we will dump you over in the deep end of the pool and teach you how to right and re-enter a kayak both with and without help. Develop the self-confidence to join us on future trips. This is also a great opportunity to try different types of kayaks in case you are looking to buy one. Meet at the pool at 9:00 a.m., class will last about two hours.
Cost: $5 for students, $7 for family members; $10 for faculty/ staff/alums/, $12 for family members; $15 for non-USA.
Maximum: 7 participants
How to sign up: Leave a check for the $5 deposit or for the full amount payable to “U.S.A.” (sorry, no cash) along with your name and cell phone number at the Front Desk of the Student Recreation Center. We will call you and confirm receipt of check. Fee is due the day prior to the class and is non-refundable three days prior to class UNLESS we can replace you or class is canceled. Checks will not be deposited until completion of class; if class is canceled, all fees will be refunded. All participants will receive a $5 discount on any Outdoor Adventures trip taken in 2012.
