PADDLE/CAMP BLACK CREEK RIVER
Come join Campus Recreation and Outdoor Adventures as we paddle Black Creek River on Saturday-Sunday, June 9 and 10.
Black Creek is Mississippi’s prime example of a coastal black water stream. We will run the 20 mile stretch from Moody’s Landing to the Fairley Bridge Landing in DeSoto National Forest. This section has been designated as a Wild and Scenic Stream because of its’ scenic qualities and remoteness.
We will leave Campus Recreation at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday and drive two hours to near Brooklyn, MS. We will paddle about 10 miles the first day and then set up camp on a beautiful white, isolated sandbar. Finish the paddle on day 2 by around 2:00 p.m. and return to Mobile around 5:00 p.m.
Cost: $35 for student, $37 for family member; $40 for faculty/staff/alum, $42 for family members, $50 for all others. Fee includes transportation, canoes, kayaks and all camping gear and cooking items. Does not include food.
