ABCs OF KAYAKING
Come join Campus Recreation and Outdoor Adventures as we teach you ABCs of Kayaking on Saturday, August 25.
Class will meet at the indoor USA swimming pool. Try out a tandem kayak, a sit-on-top kayak, a touring kayak, and a recreational kayak to decide what best suits you. We will teach you how to hold a paddle, how to enter and exit your “ride” and how to go, turn, and stop. Most importantly, we will have you practice a wet entry; we will dump you over in the deep end of the pool and teach you how to right and re-enter a kayak both with and without help. Develop the self-confidence to join us on future trips. Meet at the pool at 9:00 a.m., class will last about two hours.
Cost (per person): $5 for students and $7 for family members; $10 for faculty/ staff/alums and $12 for family members; $15 for non-USA. All participants will receive a $5 discount on any Outdoor Adventures trip taken in the Fall of 2012.
How to sign up: Leave a check for the full amount payable to “U.S.A.” (sorry, no cash) along with your name and cell phone number at the Front Desk of the Student Recreation Center. We will call you to confirm your place on the trip along with more information. We will accept registrants up until day prior to class is space allows.
