HIKE/CLIMB/RAPPEL/SPELUNK Little River Canyon

Join Campus Recreation and Outdoor Adventures as we hike, climb, and rappel in Little River Canyon, and explore Manitou Cave on March 10 -12 (Sunday - Tuesday).
Year round, Little River Canyon offers stunning, panoramic views.  It offers mazes of rock formations that we will explore and climb. We will also explore and spelunk one of NE Alabama’s most unique all-weather caves, Manitou Cave, in the heart of Fort Payne, AL. 

Day 1- We will leave from the Student Recreation Center at 6:00 a.m. and drive 355 miles northeast to Fort Payne, AL.  The adventure will begin as we climb and rappel the rock faces of Little River Canyon.  Afterwards, we will get settled in the Three Gables Cabin and cook dinner.

Day 2- We will drive 15 minutes to True Adventure Sports prepare us for the Wild Cave Tour at Manitou Caves. This cave adventure is for those ready to explore on your knees, on your belly, in the mud and through tight tunnels. All gear is provided.  Afterwards it’s back to the cabin for showers, dinner, a fire, and a bubbling hot tub.

Day 3- We will check out of the Three Gables at 11:00 a.m. and head for The Viper, a 23 mile scenic winding drive through Little River Canyon. There will be plenty of scenic outlooks filled with canyon bluffs, waterfalls, and beautiful mountain outcroppings.  We will leave Little River Canyon around 2:00 p.m. and drive back to Mobile arriving around 8:00 p.m.

Cost: $185 for students, $190 family members; $ 195 faculty/staff/ alumni, $200 family members; $210 non-USA.  Fee includes transportation, cabin, all activities, and gear.

How to sign-up: Leave a check for the full amount payable to “U.S.A.” (sorry, no cash) along with your name(s) and cell phone number(s) at the Front Desk of  the Student Recreation Center.  We will call you to confirm your place on the trip along with more information.  We will accept registrants until day prior to trip.  Fee is non-refundable within 2 days of trip UNLESS we can replace you or trip is canceled. Checks will not be deposited until completion of trip; if trip is canceled, all fees will be refunded.
