Frequently Asked Questions

When are the parking lot zones in effect?
Park in your designated lot from 7 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. Monday through Friday on the main campus.

When will JagTran run?
The transportation system will run from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., with a lighter service continuing from
4 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. Monday through Friday.

If I have a class that starts at 2 p.m., what should I do?
Just park your car before your class in any Student parking lot that's convenient. The new parking zones are only in effect until 1:45 p.m.

What if I only take late afternoon or night classes?
Your parking will not change. Simply park in any student space (white lined) after 1:45 p.m. Monday through Friday and anytime Saturday and Sunday. However, if you park on-campus for any reason before 1:45 p.m. you will be limited to 30 minute parking in selected areas.

Do I have to pay a fare or have a ticket to ride JagTran?
No. The cost of operating JagTran is part of the student transportation fee. JagTran is FREE to USA faculty and staff.

How often will the JagTran vehicles run?
Buses and trams will run frequently on a continuous loop based on the number of riders.

If I have classes in different areas of campus, what should I do ?
Evaluate your schedule, and pick a parking zone as close as possible to the largest number of your classes. Please keep in mind that this color permit will be valid the entire academic year. Park and use JagTran or walk to your classes from 7:30 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. After 1:45 p.m., the new parking zones are no longer in effect. You can park in any (white lined) Student parking lot.

If I use a wheelchair or have other types of special needs, what should I do?
Students with disabilities will feel comfortable on all JagTran vehicles. They are fully accessible
to all students. Students with disabilities will not have to change their current parking zone.
They can park as they do now.

Once I pick my parking zone, do I park in a certain place?
No. You can park anywhere in the zone designated by that color as long as it is a Student parking space. There are no assigned parking spaces, only assigned parking zones.

If I have a housing permit and live in a residence hall, can I use the other lots?
Based on your feedback, on-campus resident students can park in the University Commons parking lot at any time, using their housing permit. You will need to use the residence hall lots until 1:45 p.m. and ride JagTran or walk. You can park in any Student parking space after 1:45 p.m.

What if my parking area is full and I can't find a parking space?
All parking areas have been checked and parking spaces have always been available. The residence hall lots can be used with any color hangtag.

If I have classes during the day and at night, which lot should I pick?
If you have classes during the day and at night, pick a lot convenient to your daytime classes. Parking is unrestricted after 1:45 p.m.

Do I need a particular color hangtag to park in the Mitchell Center, Health Services or Residence Hall parking lots?
No, all students can park in the Student parking spaces at the Health Services and Residence Hall lots at all times. The Mitchell Center grass parking lost is not a zoned area and is considered open parking. Please note, however, it is subject to be closed during events.
