General Information

Zoned Parking

The USA parking system is divided into zones. The zoned parking is in effect Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. during fall and spring semesters. Zoned parking is not in effect during the summer semester. A valid USA parking permit must be displayed, unobstructed from the rearview mirror, at all times while a vehicle is parked on campus.

The South zone (purple) is comprised of University Commons, Mitchell College of Business, Performing Arts building, Administration building, Computer Information Systems building, and the Health & Physical Education building.

The Central zone (orange) is comprised of the Student Center, Bookstore, Gamma lot (Gamma residents will be issued a Central parking permit), Engineering, Faculty Court South, and Humanities South.

The East zone (green) is comprised of the Instructional Lab building, Visual Arts building, Alpha Hall East, Biomedical Library, and the College of Medicine.

The North zone (brown) is comprised of the Library, Humanities North, and Chemistry.

The Housing and Grove parking permits allow students to park in the residence hall lots (except the Gamma lot), the Mitchell Center lot (South lot only), and University Commons (UCOM) during the enforcement of zoned parking (M-F 7:00 a.m. – 1:45 p.m.). After 1:45 p.m., students displaying the Housing or Grove permits may park in any white lined student space on campus.

The MItchell Center grass parking lot is not a zoned area and is considered open parking. Please note, however, it is subject to be closed during events.

The Meisler Hall lot is comprised of 30-minute parking spaces and visitor spaces. Students may use the 30-minute spaces to conduct business at Meisler Hall. These spaces should not be used by employees or students during their classes or work day.  Visitor spaces are to be used by non-affiliates of the university who are visiting campus. Students and employees may not use these spaces.

How to Choose a Permit

Students living off-campus will choose a zone to park for the entire academic year (fall-summer semesters). They should choose a zone most convenient to their classes and activities taking place before 1:45 p.m.

All on-campus resident students including sororities and fraternities must obtain a Housing zone permit with the exception of Gamma residents who must obtain a Central zone permit. The Grove residents must obtain a Grove parking permit and adhere to all on-campus resident parking rules and regulations. Obtaining a permit other than the allowed permit will result in disciplinary action and possible vehicle immobilization.

General Parking Guidelines

Students are to park in white lined spaces. The blue lined spaces are designated for faculty/staff only. Parking on yellow curbs and or yellow lined areas is prohibited. Parking in fire lanes (red lined areas) is also prohibited. For a complete list of rules and regulations, please click on the link below.
