Approximately 1,000 colleges and universities across the country offer a special course tailored to the needs of first-time freshmen. At the University of South Alabama, we have 3,551 freshmen enrolled and offer 70 sections of the freshman seminar. But what do we really know about this distinct group of students, just out of high school and new to our campus? Learn the realities of the freshman experience as opposed to the myths. Discover how freshmen find their way through this important first year by learning to play the game of college. Take away a new understanding of what is important to freshman and how the freshman seminar can be made more meaningful. This presentation is based on findings from Tim Clydesdale's book "The First Year Out: Understanding American Teens After High School," as well as the experiences of two veteran freshman seminar instructors.

Pizza will be provided for all who register. However, we do ask for a small donation ($3-4) to cover food costs.

Please call 461-1563 or email petal@usouthal.edu to register.
