Teaching and Learning in the Literature
Maryellen Weimer, the editor of The Teaching Professor, started her own blog a few months ago. Like most bloggers, she took a little time to find her blogging voice and rhythm, but she has really found her stride in the last couple of months. I strongly recommend that you subscribe.
About six weeks ago, she wrote a post that seemed extremely pertinent to the central challenge that we at PETAL face every day—making programs aimed at improving teaching seem relevant to busy faculty who don’t feel like they need to improve. Her blog post, “Improvement Is Not a Dirty Word,” does an excellent job of verbalizing how faculty development is not about remediation of deficiencies, but rather about building on strengths in a continual process of self-improvement.
