Teaching and Learning in the Literature
A recent article in the Chronicle, “The Truth Is, You Gave a Lousy Talk” (12/21/07), addresses some of the pitfalls of slide-driven conference presentations and presents four categories on which the visual aids of presentation should be judged:
- Communication—How esoteric is your use of language in the slides?
- Clarity—How much effort do you put into ensuring that each slide is clear to your audience?
- Focus—How often is your use of technology unnecessary or distracting?
- Presentation—How confident are you in your work and how well do your slides match what you have to say?
