Hybrid courses are courses where some of the instructional time that would normally spent in the traditional classroom is moved online. This instructional strategy, which is also called blended or distributed learning, is frequently used to combine the benefits of the face-to-face classroom with the convenience of the online classroom.
Designating courses as “hybrid” requires certain administrative actions beyond the scope of this workshop, but once the course is so designated, there are many different ways to take advantage of the online environment to deliver course content and achieve meaningful interaction with and between students.
- Find out how to get your course designated as “hybrid” according to your department’s or college’s policies.
- Contact USA Online to set up an eCollege shell for the course.
- Attend PETAL Technology Workshop on Teaching Hybrid Courses or schedule a one-on-one tutorial.
- Attend Online Learning Lab workshop(s) on teaching online.
