Reporting
Crime Incidents
Persons wishing
to report crime or other emergency incidents may contact the University
Police Department by either walk in, telephone or by activation
of personal alarm system.
For walk-in
reports: The University Police Operations building is staffed
twenty-four hours a day seven days a week. It is located at the
front of the school next to the Administration Building. University
police administration is located in Faculty Court South Room 20.
University Police Administration is open Monday through Friday from
8 AM until 5 PM.

University Police for non-emergency or administrative calls. University
Police may also be contacted on TTD telephone (251) 460-7001. The

Persons
making crime reports are encouraged to identify themselves but are
not required too do so.
Other Agencies:
Students residing off campus should report crime incidents to law
enforcement agencies with jurisdiction for the location of crime
committed. Other agencies may be contacted at the following telephone

Victim's
Advocacy: The University of South Alabama provides a victims
advocacy program sponsored by the Student Affairs Division. This
service is provided for students who have become a victim of sexual
assault. The victim advocate may be contacted by calling (251) 460-7151
or through the University Police Department (251) 460-6312. Victims
of sexual assault may also contact the local rape crisis center
by calling (251) 660-8011. (Other important information and telephone

LowDown" and the Greater Mobile Telephone directory.
Reports Made
to University Officials: The Vice President for Student Affairs,
any of the professional student affairs and housing staff members,
student health clinic personnel, employees or faculty who are advisors
for specific student organizations, athletic director or team coach
may be contacted by a crime victim and a crime report will be taken.
Any of the above listed persons receiving a crime report will assist
a victim with informing University Police. If the victim wishes
their identity remain confidential and wishes no formal investigation,
the victim must inform the University official to whom they are
reporting the event. If confidentiality has been requested,
the listed University Official receiving a crime report will gather
sufficient information to allow the University to implement proper
crime alerts, if warranted, and so the information may be included
in the statistical records maintained by the University Police Department.
If the crime being reported is forced or non-forced rape, the official
receiving the report will complete the University's "Sexual Assault
Incident Report". As much information, taking care not to identify
the victim, will be collected and the report sent to the University's
Counseling Services office located at AHE room 326 by the most expeditious
method available. University Counseling has been established as
the collection point for sexual assault reports and will provide
information to University Police officials for campus alerting and
statistical purposes.
