Thank you for your interest in the University of South Alabama!
A diverse and vibrant public university, the University of South Alabama recently celebrated five decades of contributions through teaching, research, service and health care. We advance into our next 50 years stronger than ever.
More and more people are choosing to attend the University of South Alabama. Our enrollment tops 15,000, and this past spring we awarded USA’s 75,000th degree. USA’s alumni constitute a diverse and vital professional workforce that helps drive our economy.
USA is a comprehensive, global University that offers students a quality education in a variety of fields. The University awards nearly 100 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees through its nine colleges and schools — the College of Arts and Sciences, the Mitchell College of Business, the College of Education, the College of Engineering, the College of Medicine, the College of Nursing, the Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions, the School of Computing, and the School of Continuing Education and Special Programs.
Our academic programs provide a solid base to allow students to grow intellectually, economically, and socially.
In health care, USA plays a dual role. We provide students with a first-class education and the community with advanced treatments through the USA Physicians Group, USA Medical Center, USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital and the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute.
Our service extends beyond health care. USA faculty research protects our important coastal environment, enhances our region’s energy resources and brings new products to market. USA educates tomorrow’s teachers, supports businesses and commerce, and adds to the region’s culture and quality of life. The University is ranked “Research University/High” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
In addition to USA’s outstanding academic and research programs, our students enjoy a variety of social, cultural, entertainment and athletic activities that contribute to a well-rounded college experience. Whether you are attending a Jaguar football game or dramatic performance, relaxing poolside at the Student Recreation Center, or participating in one of our nearly 200 student organizations, there is something for you at USA.
The University has invested more than $500 million in the past decade in construction projects that enhance campus and support USA’s commitment to its core missions. Those projects include additional residence halls and dining services, enhanced recreational facilities, new academic buildings, and aesthetic improvements such as Moulton Tower and Alumni Plaza. We have made substantial investments in our health care division, including establishing the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute and completing a major expansion of USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital.
USA offers value, combining a highly competitive tuition rate with a generous academic scholarship program. We recently reaffirmed our commitment to making higher education affordable through the establishment of the Mitchell-Moulton Scholarship Initiative, accessible to entering freshmen both in-state and out-of-state.

The University of South Alabama experience is best defined by the people — students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends — who share a common enthusiasm as members of the USA family. Our family is growing, and we want you to be a part of us!
