Dr. Parker

Dr. Sandra Parker attended medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL. She then completed her general psychiatry residency at UAB before completing her fellowship training in child psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for the Health Sciences. Her major psychiatric interests are in autism related disorders, health care disparities and telepsychiatry. Dr. Parker serves on several Board of Directors. She and her family do mission work in Ecuador and participate in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. |

Dr. Simkin
Residency Director

Dr. Simkin received her medical degree form LSU and trained at Ochsner Hospital in Adult Psychiatry and Harvard’s Mass General and McLean Hospitals in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She was Assistant Professor at Dartmouth Medical School while serving as director of children’s mental health for the state of New Hampshire. Dr. Simkin served as Chair/CoChair for the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry's (AACAP) Adolescent Substance Abuse committee for 10 years and currently is the liaison for the AACAP to the American Academy for Pediatrics Substance Abuse Committee. In addition Dr. Simkin serves as a member of the AACAP Committee on Collaboration with Medical Professionals.. She was clinical faculty at LSU and Florida State Medical Schools. She is board certified in Adult, Addiction and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Her research has been in LD and ADHD and she has authored numerous chapters on Adolescent Substance Abuse. She is also interested in neurobiology and sport’s psychiatry.

Dr. Abordo |
Dr. Abordo obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the University the Philippines College of Medicine in Metro Manila, Philippines. His Post Graduate Year 1was done in Internal Medicine at the State University of New York Health Sciences Center in Brooklyn, Kings County Hospital Center and the VA Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. His Post Graduate Training PGY-2-4 in Psychiatry was done at Saint Vincents Hospital and Medical Center of NY, New York City, NY. His is board certified in Adult and Geriactric Psychiatry. He has done research on “Effectiveness of a Procholinergic Agent, Aricept, on the Cognitive Deficits in ChronicallyPsychotic Patients” and was a volunteer psychiatrist, for the Project for the Psychiatric Outreach to the Homeless, 1999.

Dr. Ghelmez |
Dr. Ghelmez received his medical degree from the Carol Davila University in Bucharest, Romania. He trained in Adult Psychiatry at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York He is board certified in Adult Psychiatry. He has had extensive child inpatient experience as an attending on a child inpatient service and currently is the attending psychiatrist for a 30 bed residential unit for children and adolescents. He also treats patients at the LeMoyne School which is a day treatment program for children. He hobbies include running in marathons, is an amateur astronomer and speaks Romanian and German.

Dr. Lorenz |
Raymond Lorenz, PharmD completed his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Albany College of Pharmacy in Albany, NY in 2005. He pursued a pharmacy practice residency with emphasis in psychiatry and a psychiatric pharmacy practice residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. Dr. Lorenz joined the faculty at Auburn University in 2007 as an off-site faculty member at the new Mobile satellite campus at the University of South Alabama. He teaches psychopharmacology to psychiatry residents at the University of South Alabama Medical Center.

Dr. Rabbani |
Dr. Rabbani received his medical degree from Dow Medical University, Karachi, Pakistan. He then came to the U. S. and received his Master’s in Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics and International Health from Boston University. He did his Adult Psychiatry training at Texas A & M University College of Medicine and recently finished his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training from the University of Colorado at Denver. Dr. Rabbani has a special interest in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and children suffering from trauma. During his traning at the University of Colorado, his major elective was at the Irving Harris Program in Child Development and Infant Mental Health. He also has interest in Diagnostic Classification DC 0-3 and play therapy with traumatized children.

Dr. Saitz |
Dr. Saitz is originally from Pittsburgh, PA. She has a Master’s of Public Health in Epidemiology from Emory University. She did her Adult Psychiatry training at East Carolina University. She is board certified in Adult Psychiatry. She has a special interest in substance abuse and is the medical director for the Gateway Methadone clinic at Alta Pointe. She supervises residents in the outpatient setting.

Dr. Billett |
Dr. Billett attended a 6 year combined BS/MD program at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in 1987. Dr. Billett spent one year in General Surgery at SUNY Stony Brook, and then completed Psychiatry Residency at University of Florida where my training emphasized biological psychiatry but was also well rounded. Dr. Billett was Board Certified in General Adult Psychiatry in 1992. Dr. Billett has a strong clinical background and have had 16 years post graduate practice experience. During my career Dr. Billett has treated patients in a variety of settings including private practice, acute care hospital units, consultation and liaison, nursing homes, state hospitals, and community mental health based out patient clinics. Interests currently are focused on anxiety disorders and schizophrenia. Outside work Dr. Billett is interested in aviation and I am a private pilot. |

Dr. Jackson |
Dr. Jackson completed her B.S. degree at the University of Alabama in 1995 and then received her Master’s Degree in Psychology at the University of South Alabama. She pursued her doctorate degree at Georgia School of Professional Psychology (now Argosy University). After completion of her pre-doctoral internship at the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System in Biloxi, MS, she was awarded her Doctor of Psychology degree with emphasis on neuropsychology in 2003. She is a practicing staff psychologist at the VA Mobile Outpatient Clinic. Her primary focus is in the assessment and treatment of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. She supervises residents in both individual and group therapy. |

Dr. Williamson |
Dr. Williamson completed his undergraduate
education at Duke University and went on to obtain his PhD from the
University of Florida, with specializations in neuropsychology and
medical psychology. He completed post-doctoral training in
neuropsychology at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center and
in behavioral neurology at the University of Florida. He received his
MBA from LeBow School of Business at Drexel University. He is board
certified in Clinical Neuropsychology and has served on the Board of
Directors for the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology. He is on
the clinical faculty of the Dept. of Clinical & Health Psychology at the
University of Florida and of the Dept. of Psychiatry at the University
of South Florida. He serves as a CNS Scientific Affairs Liaison for
Ortho-McNeil Janssen Scientific Affairs, LLC. He has published over 60
professional articles, chapters, and abstracts. |

Mr. Scott Statham |
RAYMOND "SCOTT" STATHAM, MS, LAC, LPC
After 8 years in the Navy, Scott attended college at LSU. Scott served 11 years in the Army National Guard and was activated in the US Army for Desert Storm in 1990 and 1991. There is not many experiences a Veteran can talk about that Scott can not personally identify with. After completing his BS in Psychology at LSU and his MS in Clinical Psychology at NSU he worked as a staff psychologist in the mental health system in Canton, TX. He was the Coordinator of the Substance Abuse/Chemical Dependency Program for 10 years at the VA in Alexandria, LA. He is licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified by the State Board in Addictions. Mr. Statham assists in the Residency Program by providing an expertise in treating addictions during the resident's rotation in the VA OPC MHC in Mobile. In off time he enjoys Motorcycles and Sailing in the Mobile Bay. |

Ms. Terry Rozum |
Terry Rozum, MSW, LICSW attended Auburn University where she earned a BA in Psychology with minors in Religious Studies, Philosophy, and Sociology. She obtained her Masters in Social Work from the University of Alabama. Her second year clinical internship was done at the historic St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, DC, in the psychiatry and mental health units. She was attached to Walter Reed Army Medical Center as a Mental Health Therapist at Ft. Belvoir, VA. In Mobile, she is the Mental Health Social Worker for the VA Mobile Outpatient Clinic. |

Dr. Snow |
Dr. Snow received her B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Alabama and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and holds the same rank in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. Dr. Snow’s interest in Behavioral Medicine began when she took a post-graduate course at Harvard. She has continued to expand her training and expertise in this field. She is Board certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors, The American Board of Medical Psychotherapists, American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists and American Group Psychotherapy Association. She maintained a private psychotherapy practice for thirty-four years. She is a very experienced clinician in both the public and private sectors. |

Dr. Adams |
Dr. Martha Adams, Adjunct Associate Professor, received her B.S. from the University of the State of New York and her Ph.D. in Psychology from California Coast University. She had post- graduate training in Behavioral Medicine and in Alcoholism and Addiction. She serves as co-director of Behavioral Science for the Department of Family Medicine and also has an appointment in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. Dr. Adams is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds certifications from the National Board for Certified Counselors, the American Group Psychotherapy Association, and the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists. She conducted a private psychotherapy practice for many years. |

Dr. Caffarel |
Dr. Caffarel graduated from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. He did his ophthalmology residency at LSUMC in New Orleans where he was chief resident. He practiced ophthalmology in Baton Rouge until 1986, and then did a psychiatry residency at LSUMC in New Orleans where he also became chief resident. He is board certified in Adolescent Psychiatry, Adult Psychiatry and Ophthalmology. He previously was faculty at Tulane. He worked at the VA Gulfport Hospital and Pensacola Clinic prior to his permanent assignment at the Mobile Clinic on 9/10/01. He is the Director of the VA Adult Outpatient Service for the USA Department of Psychiatry.

Cheryl Holmes |
Cheryl Lynn Holmes, Supervision Licensed Professional Counselor, Master Addition Counselor.
Ms. Holmes received her B.S. degree in Secondary Education from the University of Maine in 1992 and her M.S. degree in Community Counseling from the University of South Alabama in 1994. She continued her education and supervision requirements to become a Supervising Licensed Professional Counselor and a Master Addiction Counselor She currently supervises the operations of six substance abuse programs and contracts for AltaPointe in her role as Coordinator of Substance Abuse Services. Ms. Holmes has also conducted several trainings locally and at the state level in the areas of Dual Diagnosis, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Substance Abuse Treatment.

Beth Blair |
Mary Beth Blair, LPC, CRC
Graduated from the University of Alabama with a Masters in Vocational Rehabilitative Counseling in 2002. She worked at Mobile Mental Health Center since 2002 as a therapist, Assistant Coordinator, and now as a Coordinator supervising one of the Adult Outpatient Clinics. Practiced DBT intensely for over 3 years and has assisted with or led education and consultation teams through the center for the last 5 years. She has presented on DBT for the Alabama mental health clinical directors meeting as well as multiple clinical presentations for therapists, social workers, nurses, and case managers.

Dr. Ronald D. Franks |
Dr. Franks was the vice president for health affairs and professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at East Tennessee State University He has also served as dean of medicine at East Tennessee State and at the University of Minnesota Duluth School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree, with distinction, from the University of Michigan and completed and his internship at Virginia Mason Hospital. Franks completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of Colorado. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry. Franks currently serves as chair of the Liaison Committee of Medical Education and on the governing council of the American Medical Association. He is a past member of the executive council of the Association of American Medical Colleges and of the Health and Human Services Advisory Committee on Training in Primary Care Medicine and Dentistry of the Health and Resources and Services Administration. He has authored and co-authored numerous articles in professional journals and has received numerous grants for his research. |

Dr. Martin L. Rohling |
Dr. Martin L. Rohling is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. He obtained his undergraduate degree in psychology from Southern Illinois University (1984) and his master’s degree (1988) and doctoral degree (1991) in clinical psychology from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Dr. Rohling completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the VA Medical Center in Portland, OR. His research publications have examined issues from traumatic brain injury, neurotoxicology, chronic pain, dementia, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, domestic violence, stalking, attention deficit disorders, learning disabilities, and problem gambling. He has published over 80 professional articles and abstracts |

Dr. Dansak |
Dr. Dansak graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1970 and did post-graduate training in psychiatry at the Georgetown-Veterans Administration Hospitals in Washington, DC. After serving two years in the Navy and returning to the Washington, DC VA for two years, I joined the faculty at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, NM, as an assistant professor. I then moved to the University of South Alabama in 1984 and retired from that position in 2000 to rejoin the VA. His major interest is in substance abuse. |

Dr. Sanders |
Kevin Sanders, MD, is originally from Tennessee and
earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee.
He attended medical school at the University of Tennessee-College of
Medicine and completed his general psychiatry internship and residency
at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sanders then went to
Duke University where he completed his child psychiatry fellowship. His
last year at Duke, Sanders held the position of chief resident. He
currently is on faculty at Florida State College of Medicine. Sanders
has been in private practice in Pensacola since 2002. He has a special
interest in autistic spectrum disorders and anxiety disorders as well as
cognitive behavioral therapy. |
