Application Procedures

For Master of Science
In Psychology

To assure that all graduate students receive the appropriate level of mentoring and supervised training in applied skills, no more than 10-15 students are admitted per year. Students are admitted once a year for Fall Semester only.

Before submitting any application materials please read the Psychology Department Information for Applicants.

The following application materials must be received by the Office of Admissions by March 1:

1. Completed Graduate Admissions application form.
2. Non-refundable application fee.
3. Two copies of official transcripts of all college-level course work.
4. GRE scores (verbal and quantitative scores are required).
5. TOEFL scores (for international students only).
6. Those interested in applying for a graduate assistantship should also submit a Graduate Assistantship application form. (See more information below.)

The Department of Psychology requires the following additional application materials. These materials must also be received by the Office of Admissions by March 1:

1. Completed Psychology Departmental application form.
2. Statement of Purpose.
3. Three letters of recommendation.

All applicants will be notified of admission decisions in April. Applications completed after March 1 will be considered only if space is still available.

For Doctor of Philosophy
In Combined Clinical and Counseling Psychology

• Completed Graduate Admissions Application Form
• Official GRE scores
• All undergraduate and graduate academic transcripts
• Statement of Purpose
• Three letters of academic recommendation
• Psychology Doctoral Program Application Form
• One or two representative work samples of current skills (e.g. test reports, counseling summaries, research reports, publications, etc.)
• Those interested in applying for a graduate assistantship should also submit a Graduate Assistantship application form. (See more information below.)

Financial Aid

A limited number of Graduate Assistantships for both the masters and doctoral programs are available on a competitive basis. Graduate Assistantship application forms are available on the web or from the Department of Psychology Office, Room 320, Life Sciences Building. Assistantship application forms should be sent to the Office of Admissions. The deadline for receipt of completed applications for Assistantships is March 1.
