University faculty and staff volunteers are needed for the 2005 Regional Science Olympiad, which will be held from 8a.m.-5:30 p.m., Saturday, February 26, on USA's main campus.
USA will host the Olympiad, which gives students from approximately 25 regional middle and high schools the opportunity to compete in a variety of hands-on science events. More than 400 students, parents and teachers are expected to attend the event.
Volunteers are needed to help host and judge events as USA welcomes these visitors to campus.
"This is a great opportunity to showcase our campus and our friendliness to prospective students, and to perform a wonderful community service," said Dr. Steve Itaya, professor and chair of biomedical sciences.
Although the event emphasizes various sciences, faculty and staff from other disciplines are also encouraged to participate.
To volunteer, contact Itaya at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 380-2710. Send your name, e-mail address, and phone number. Also indicate the number of hours you will be able to work-a full or half day.
