The University of South Alabama Library is hosting the second Art in Science, Percipio, exhibit on the third floor art gallery through March 3.
Percipio, Latin for "to learn through the senses," is a program that was developed by the Center for Lung Biology to display an artistic side of scientific research in the College of Medicine at USA.
The show consists of over 30 colorful framed images that were created by USA researchers in the process of conducting their hypothesis-driven research.
Extraordinary digital photographs were made by applying fluorescent dyes to cell materials and using 40x microscopy with filters to record bright color variations.
The goal of Percipio is to educate the community about science through the medium of art.
Also on display are the interpretations of the 2003 Percipio Inaugural Exhibit by fourth and fifth grade honor students at Rockwell Elementary School. The show is free, and the gallery is open during regular library hours.
