Robert J. Martin, Juvenile Court Administrator for Mobile County, will speak at the University of South Alabama at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, as part of the USA Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work department’s annual Honors and Awards Week.
The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Humanities Building, Room 118.
Martin, who is retiring this year, will speak from his 30-plus years’ experience in the juvenile justice system. He was instrumental in bringing residential programs for low- to medium-risk juvenile offenders into Mobile. This protects youth from serious offenders in the male or female state facilities. Additionally, it’s a lower-cost alternative that keeps young people in their communities and closer to their families.
Martin received both his bachelor’s degree in psychology and his master’s in counseling from USA.
