University of South Alabama students William G. Bryant of Niceville, Fla., and Tara M. Portillo of Mobile have been named the outstanding cooperative education students of the year.
Bryant was honored for his outstanding performance as alternating co-op. He entered the program in the fall of 2001 and completed three formal work terms with Gulf Power Company. William is a mechanical engineering major and will graduate cum laude this spring. While attending school, he was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Ingersol-Rand Representative for 2002-2003, and a charter member of the National Society of Professional Engineers.
Portillo was honored for her outstanding performance as parallel co-op. She entered the program in the fall of 2003. She completed four formal work terms with the USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital as a physical therapy/burn-wound care technician. Tara is a psychology major and will graduate this spring. While attending school, she was a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the Biomedical Sciences Society, and Colleges against Cancer. She has been accepted into USA’s Graduate School in the physician assistant program.
