A University of South Alabama team recently participated in the United Way's 2005 Day of Caring as "Lend a Hand Volunteers." More than 350 volunteers from the area completed 69 community service projects in one day.
The USA team was one of many that volunteered at different project sites throughout Mobile County. Projects for the Day of Caring took place at agencies that receive United Way donations.
The University of South Alabama Day of Caring Volunteer Team served Early Childhood Directions, a private, non-profit agency that helps people make informed child care choices. The USA team visited several centers and distributed books to the students.
The agency provides information, referral services and training programs for the early care and education community as well as working parents and their employers.
USA Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations Dr. Joseph Busta, Associate Development Director for Medial Affairs Tracy Coleman, and Assistant Development Director for Annual Giving Abbie McCullough were involved in the United Way event.
