On Saturday, Oct. 22 the Women in Science Group will host “Expanding Your Horizons”, a one-day conference at the University of South Alabama to provide young females the opportunity to interact with women scientists and researchers.
This year’s conference will offer 40 different hands-on workshops to 300 middle school students from throughout the Gulf Coast region. Presenters for the workshop are USA faculty and other math and science professionals.
Expanding Your Horizons Conferences have been held since 1976 by the Women in Science Groups across the United States. This is the fifth year that the event had been held in Mobile and it is the only Expanding Your Horizons Conference in Alabama.
The conferences are held in an effort to increase the interest of young women in math, science, and engineering by providing exciting and fun hands-on experiences. They also provide mentoring and opportunities to interact with positive women role models.
