USA Hosts Mobile Regional Science Fair
Approximately 150 of the area’s top young scientists will compete during the 51st annual Mobile Regional Science Fair, March 17-18 at the University of South Alabama
Mitchell Center.
Middle and high school students from nine counties in southwest Alabama will show exhibits in behavioral and social sciences, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, Earth and space science, engineering, environmental science, gerontology, mathematics, medicine and health, microbiology, physics, and zoology.
Judges from local business, industry, and academic institutions will pick first-, second-, and third-place winners from a variety of categories. These students will qualify for the state competition in April. The two high school students chosen as best overall will be awarded four-year full-tuition scholarships to the University of South Alabama and trips to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair to be held May 7-13 in Indianapolis, Ind.
The public is invited to view the exhibits from 8 – 11 a.m., Saturday, March 18 in the USA Mitchell Center. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held on Saturday afternoon.
