The University of South Alabama 2008 Faculty/Staff Annual Fund Campaign held its kick-off breakfast recently at the Waterman Globe at the Mitchell Center. This year’s campaign goals are to raise $375,000 and to have participation from 66 percent of University employees.
Leaders of this year’s “Commitment to Excellence” campaign are Dr. Becky DeVillier, administrator of USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital; and Dr. Carl Moore, dean of the Mitchell College of Business.
Pictured at the breakfast are: USA President Gordon Moulton, DeVillier, Moore, Jim Yance, a USA Trustee and chairman of Campaign USA; and Dr. Joseph Busta, vice president for development and alumni relations.
The Faculty/Staff campaign is part of Campaign USA, the University’s first comprehensive fund-raising campaign that seeks to raise $75 million for USA programs, faculty, students and construction over three years. Campaign USA was launched in March 2006 and, to date, has raised $64.3 million.
Last year, the Faculty/Staff campaign raised $343,670 through gifts from 64 percent of USA employees.
All employees who return their pledge cards are eligible to win a free global positioning system, the Garmin Nuvi 200 GPS. Featuring a full-color, touch screen, the machine comes preloaded with maps of the United States, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
